The establishment of the China Cultural Centre in Malta stemmed from a memorandum of understanding signed between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Malta in 2001.
As a non-profit cultural organization, the CCC is committed to fostering mutual understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture and the arts through various cultural, educational, and people-to-people activities. Our aim is to strengthen the warm and cooperative relations between our two nations by providing high-quality services to the Maltese public and cultivating close partnerships with both public and private sectors.
The CCC was officially inaugurated on September 19, 2003, by H.E. Prof. De Marco, President of Malta, alongside Mme. Meng Xiaosi, China’s Vice Minister of Culture, and the Hon. Mr Jesmond Mugliett, Malta’s Minister for Youth and the Arts.
Located in a century-old building at 173 Melita Street, Valletta, the Centre underwent extensive restoration to preserve its historic charm while accommodating modern facilities. Equipped with a library, art gallery, language lab, dance studio, multi-functional hall, and digitalized classrooms, the Centre serves as a hub for cultural, educational, and recreational activities, as well as information exchange.
Our services include Chinese language training, martial arts classes, lectures on various aspects of Chinese culture, exhibitions, film screenings, and performances by renowned Chinese artists and cultural inheritors. With a collection of over 10,000 books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and audio-visual materials, our library offers a wealth of resources to the community.
In addition to participating in local cultural events and festivals, the CCC regularly hosts art exhibitions, film screenings, and performances to showcase China’s rich heritage and contemporary arts to the Maltese audience. From traditional music and dance to martial arts and acrobatics, our diverse programs aim to provide an immersive experience of China’s cultural richness and diversity.
