Mercury Towers, situated in St. Julian’s, is the tallest building on the Maltese Islands, designed by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects.

This striking development seamlessly blends historic charm with cutting-edge modernity to create a completely new urban landscape. At its core stands a 19th-century heritage building, bordered by a 31-story residential tower. The iconic design by Zaha Hadid Architects features a mid-rise twist that offers panoramic sky views and a horizon pool. A low-rise podium, which houses a boutique hotel, retail, and commercial spaces, serves as a southern screen for the site. The development also dedicates half of its footprint to 4,000m² of beautifully landscaped piazzas. An underground parking facility with zoned access for over 400 spaces is a key element of the project.

A pavilion located to the north opens up to a semi-pedestrianized piazza, which forms the primary urban axis of the high-end entertainment district of Paceville, St. Julian’s. This pavilion provides an exceptional space where indoor and outdoor areas flow together, with signature curves that reflect the distinctive style of Zaha Hadid Architects. It also acts as the entrance to an expansive entertainment area beneath the piazza.

The entertainment space, spanning approximately 760m² with an additional 300m² service area, is accessible via a feature staircase or an elevator from the piazza. This double-height area is designed to provide a dynamic venue for leisure and events, with direct connections to the underground car park.

Historical Mercury House
Originally constructed in 1903, Mercury House was designed to house the region’s pioneering telecom infrastructure. Featuring an elegant limestone facade, the building is a Grade II listed structure of notable historical importance. After a careful restoration, the original Mercury House now seamlessly blends its rich heritage with modern architectural design, creating a striking contrast between a cherished landmark and contemporary style.
